Taurus

fixed earth · 30°–60° of the ecliptic · the middle of spring

Taurus is the middle of spring, when the season is established and no longer arriving. Fixed and earth: nothing is being started or dissolved, only held.

Venus rules it in both the traditional and modern schemes — one of the few signs where the two agree entirely. Where Libra is Venus as comparison and proportion, Taurus is Venus as appetite and possession.

The Sun spends about 30.4 days here, slightly longer than in the winter signs, because the Earth is nearer aphelion and moving more slowly along its orbit.

Traditionally attributed

Steadiness, appetite for the tangible, reluctance to be hurried.
